

The 2026 AGPI/ICGP ASM was co-hosted by the Department of General Practice, UCC and the Cork postgraduate GP training scheme, and included a diverse and interesting programme.
The theme of the conference was:
“Advancing General Practice Through Evidence and Innovation”
Keynote speakers included Prof Dame Louise Robinson, Dr Margaret McCartney, Professor Robert Scully and Dr Padraic McCarthy.
Across the two main days, delegates chose from over 120 research presentations and workshops spanning:
Medicines optimisation and polypharmacyLong term conditions management
Cancer diagnosis in primary care
Health inequalities and vulnerable populations
Rural practice and workforce planning
Education and workforce development
Digital health interventions
Research infrastructure and health data
The social programme included a walking tour of the UCC campus, social morning runs across the Lee Fields and Maradyke walk, yoga and mindfulness, and an evening meal in the Devere Hall UCC, where Trad Soc’ UCC provided the musical entertainment. The recipient of the Fiona Bradley Award was Dr Anna Marie Naughton. This award recognised her career achievements that have made a sustained difference in healthcare.The recipient of the Best Education Presentation was Dr Alice O’ Neill. The recipient of the Best GP Trainee Research Presentation was Dr Ailbhe Fell.The recipient of the Best Research Presentation was Dr Farah Tahsin.
